World Bank Team Concludes Implementation Support Mission April 09, 2025 (MoWE) The World Bank team has successfully concluded its implementation support mission for the Ethiopia Flood Management Project. During the wrap-up session, the team provided key recommendations to accelerate civil works such as dredging, river widening, embankment construction, and more. Discussions also covered the status of environmental and social safeguards in the Awash River, Rift Valley Lakes, and Omo River areas, as well as progress in procurement of works, consultancy services, and goods — with a strong focus on minimizing delays. H.E. Dr. Abraha Adugna, State Minister for Water Resources Management, extended gratitude to the World Bank team for their constructive feedback and called on all implementing entities to speed up efforts to meet project goals. The mission also included site visits to key flood protection interventions in the Awash River and Rift Valley Lakes regions. Representatives from MoWE, Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure, Ethiopia Disaster Risk Management Commission, and Ethiopia Meteorology Institute participated in the session.
