MoWE Visited Amhara Pipe Factory and Abbay Basin Development Office.

Bahir Dar, July 31, 2022. MoWE senior staff led by H.E. Dr. Ing. Habtamu Iteffa paid a visit to Amhara Pipe Factory and Abbay Basin Development office

H.E. Dr.Ing. Habtamu Iteffa accompanied by Excellency State Ministers and senior staff visited Amahara Pipe Factory which produces a range of pipes for water supply infrastructure and plastic sheets, particularly, geomembrane. During the visit, it was mentioned how the factory can play a great role in facilitating water supply projects by supplying its products. specifically, the geomembranes produced by the factory are fundamental for the roof water harvesting scheme MoWE has started to implement in recent months.

MoWE also had a brief stay at the Abbay Basin Development Office, an arm of the Ministry, in its effort to implement integrated water resource management at the Abbay basin. Lying by the side of river Abbay and lake Tana at Bahir Dar, Abbay Basin Development Office is a large and fascinating building equipped with state of the art water quality laboratory and hydrological database center. During the visit, It was reported that the laboratory is understaffed and the ministry will consider what it takes to make the laboratory function at its full capacity.
