Blue Deal Awash Partnership Consortium is paying a visit to Rwanda Water Resource Board in Kigali. Nov. 20th 2024 (MoWE). A delegation Led by H.E. Dr. Abreha Adugna, State Minister of Water and Energy is visiting Rwanda Water Resource Board. The delegation which is composed of Staff from Ministry of Water and Energy, Bureau Heads of Water and Energy from Afar, Amhara, and Oromiya Regional states, and Dutch Water Board members are in the Rwandan Capital Kigali to make a week-long knowledge exchange visit. The delegation aims to learn from Rwanda's successful water management practices, particularly in basin planning, governance, and stakeholder engagement. Both countries share similar water challenges and opportunities, making this exchange a valuable opportunity for mutual learning and collaboration. Key areas of focus during the visit includes understanding and adapting best practices in basin planning and governance, exploring innovative approaches to water resources management and allocation, strengthening institutional capacity for basin-level planning and decision-making. The experience sharing mission provides for insights for both countries to know better each other for strengthening their water management practices and contribute to sustainable water resources development and management. The visit is part of the Awash-Blue Deal partnership and collaboration between the Netherlands and Ethiopia focusing on improving water resource management in the Awash Basin. At the end of the visit the delegate will approve the water cooperative framework, operational water allocation strategy, and annual plan of action for joint pilot implementation in Awash Basin.
