Mr. Tamiru Gedefa Wami is the Lead Executive Officer(LEO) of Water Supply in the Ministry of Water and Energy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. He held the position on 7th August 2022 following the Ministry of Water and Energy restructuring.

Mr. Tamiru Gedefa Wami holds a first degree in Irrigation Engineering from Arba Minch Water Technology Institute (now, Arba Minch University) obtained in 1999 and a second degree in Civil Engineering, majoring in Hydraulic Engineering, from Addis Ababa University, completed in 2009. In addition, Mr. Wami has shown a commitment to professional development by attending various short-term capacity-building trainings and participating in numerous international and national workshops, conferences, seminars, and forums related to Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH).

Mr. Wami began his esteemed career at the Ministry of Water Resources (now, Ministry of Water and Energy) as a Junior Hydrology Engineer (Hydrometery Technician) in January 2000. He held this role until April 2004. Following this, he progressed to serve as a Water Resources Engineer and Hydraulic Engineer from April 2004 to September 2006. He demonstrated remarkable capabilities in managing water resources.

In September 2006, Mr. Wami advanced to oversee the Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Program as Desk Coordinator, a position he held until 2013. From January 2014 to July 2019, he effectively managed the Water Supply and Sanitation Program as PMU Coordinator within the Ministry, a program funded by the World Bank, Africa Development Bank, the UK Government, UNICEF, and other development partners.

Mr. Wami has held key leadership positions, including WASH Program Leader and Director of Water Supply. He notably served as Director of the Water Supply Study, Design, and Construction Supervision Directorate at the Water Development Commission, the organization accountable to the Ministry, from July 2019 to October 2021. Following the Ministry's restructuring in 2022, Mr. Wami was appointed the Lead Executive Officer for Water Supply.
