Pre UN-Water Conference meeting kicked off

Pre UN-Water Conference meeting kicked off Opening the workshop, H.E. Dr.Ing. Habtamu Itefa underscored that such preparatory sessions are vital to share ideas among the concerned bodies that helps to frame issues pertinent to the upcoming UN-Water Conference to be held in March, 2023. H.E.Dr. Ing. Habatamu Itefa further pointed out that deliberations on water, sanitation and hygeine, water resource development, health , education and cross cutting issues at this stage will reinforce presence in the main conference. During a panel discussion, H.E. Amb. Asfaw Dingamo explained about efforts that are being exerted to effectively realize Sustainable development goals in the water and sanitation sector. H.E. Amb. Asfaw briefed about the programs and projects being implemented and challenges his part witnessing in the course of action. The workshop is being conducted in preparation for the the UN-Water Conference. The Netherlands Embassy in Addis Ababa, UNICEF, and IRC WASH in collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Energy are conducting the event aiming to mobilize both state and non-state actors (development partners, businesses, and academia) to reinforce the country's commitment to SDG 6, which will be expressed during the planned UN Water conference in 2023. As part of the preparation session, Mr. Abera, Sr. Advisor to the Minister presented on Ethiopia's commitment and progress on SDG 6 while Mr. Kitka Goyol presented on issues related to preparation. H.E. Dr. Ing. Habtamu Itefa chaired the discussion on the two presentations.
